Blog 9: Lesson 1 Reflection

1. I am most proud of the way that I incorporated my props into the content I was teaching. I think it was different because most people presented their props until the end of their presentation and I think it kept the audience engaged. I think doing this also gave my audience a better idea of what the props were and how they work because my topic is rather different and new to them.

2. a) I would give myself a P because I did everything required to earn a P. I think I could have possibly earned an AE or even an AE- had I not been so nervous. I think I had a lot of very good information and good props but you could tell in my tone that I was nervous and I think that took away from my presentation. It really bummed me out but I don't know why I just got extremely nervous when I was up there. I think that I was just so used to presenting to my old house so I got kind of shaky but aside from that I think I deserve a P.

b) I believe I deserve a P because I turned in my rough draft and final draft in on time, my materials were prepared on time, my introduction engaged the audience because I made them think, I had three props, I met the 8 minute minimum time requirement, and I cleaned up afterward. I think my volume and enunciation were very good too I didn't speak too low and everyone in the room was able to hear me. I kept good eye contact with my audience and spoke clearly and simple to get them to understand midwifery. I constantly mentioned my articles and had all three printed out so I can reference to all of them as I spoke about them. Lastly, I did reference my interview and mentorship as I spoke about different aspects of midwifery.

3. I think what worked for me was that I had practiced previously so I wasn't worried about not making time or going over time.

4. What didn't work for me was that I got extremely nervous and wasn't breathing slowly to try and calm myself down so it was evident in my tone of voice that I was nervous. Despite that I think my presentation was wonderful and I hope everyone enjoyed it and learned something new!
